Chocolate Whoopie Pies
I did it, I made my first batch of whoopie pies. I loved them! I am now addicted and want more. These are now the new favorite dessert in our house. The whoopie pies were everything I expected them to be and so much more. Next time I will make both chocolate and red velvet whoopie pies. The only downfall to making these is the cream filling melts quite fast, so they need to be refrigerated immediately.
I love how cute and dainty these are. I promise you will not be able to eat just one. You will crave more. These will be perfect for a fall party or even for having people over to watch a football game. I am going to use food coloring to make the filling orange and then serve them at our halloween party for the kids. They will be a huge hit. I am so glad I purchased a whoopie pie pan from Williams-Sonoma. You can buy it here. The cakes will turn out perfect every time with this pan. I also used a whoopie pie mix for my first batch, and then followed the recipe on the back. You can find the mix here. Whoopie pies are the official state treat of Maine, apparently they make some of the best whoopie pies in the United States. I might be going to Maine to find out for myself.
