Is It Fall Yet?

Is it fall yet? I know I have said this many times before, but fall is my favorite time of the year. I love everything about it. Nothing compares to having the windows open in your house and letting the cool autumn breeze blow in. The leaves rustling outside the window is so relaxing. The air even smells different during the fall season.

After this weekend, I will be patiently counting down the days until fall is officially here. Next week I will begin to get all of my autumn/halloween/thanksgiving decorations down from the attic. Fall is also the kids favorite time of the year. Maybe because three of them have birthdays in October. I should probably start planning their party soon. We usually do a huge halloween party for all three of them at our house. It's another excuse to decorate the house, and I usually have as much fun as the kids do.

Baking is another reason I love fall so much. The cooler weather is a great reason to bake my favorite dessert, apple crisp. Pumpkin is another fall favorite. We try to have football parties at the house during the season. I see huge batches of stews and chili in my future. Another thing I cook to celebrate the season is a roast chicken. Usually the second Sunday of fall I cook a roast chicken with carrots, potatoes, and parsnips for  dinner with our family. The smell of a chicken roasting in the oven is one of the best smells in the world. That smell always reminds me of the turkey roasting in our oven on Thanksgiving morning as a child. In 2010, I hosted my first Thanksgiving at our house, and we having been hosting it since then. It has become one of my favorite holidays. Great memories. What is your favorite season?
