Most days, my home and I have a love and hate relationship. There are many things I love, and a few I hate. Today happens to be one of those days I love it. The main goal I had in mind when we were remodeling the house was to make it warm and inviting. Mission accomplished. Everyone that walks into the house always talks about how cozy and welcoming it feels. I think it feels coziest in the fall, just something about it.
For the longest time, I felt like my house should look like something out of a magazine, and everything had to be perfect. Now I feel like it is all of those little imperfections that make it home. I have four children, it will not be perfect all the time. Now I just buy what I like, and I make it fit our home. I make it fit for us. I no longer need a mansion to show my style, my 1800 square foot ranch will be just fine.
The house is still a work in progress, but we have made it our own. Design is never finished, it is constantly evolving. It is a true labor of our love, from the espresso stained concrete floors to the crown molding. My husband and I did all of the remodeling to this house and we will continue to remodel it. I think we appreciate it more. All I wanted was a place for our family to call home, and we got that and so much more. There really is no place like home.
