Happy Birthday Blake

Happy 10th birthday to my baby boy, Blake. It seems like only yesterday I was bringing him home from the hospital and dressing him up as a leopard for his first halloween. He was only 3 weeks old. Children grow up so fast. He is my oldest so this day is bittersweet for me. I have decided to share the letter I wrote to Blake in honor of his birthday this year. Writing a birthday letter is a tradition I am going to start with each one of my children for their birthdays.




Dear Blake,

Happy 10th birthday to the best son a mother could ever ask for. I love you very much. I hope today is filled with wonderful moments that you will never forget. You have made me so proud to be your mother, more than you will ever know. I have to remind myself that you are child at times because you are so advanced for your age, but you have always been that way. I remember talking to you as a baby and you looking up at me, it was almost as if you knew exactly what I was saying. You are wise beyond your years, an old soul with a gigantic heart. I admire you for always being true to yourself, this is a rare quality these days. I admire your kind spirit and thoughtfulness. I want you to always be happy and just be you. Don't try to change yourself for anyone, including me. I hope your birthday is just as special as you are. You are growing up, but you will always be my baby boy.
